IEEE 802.3ae Qualification Test System

8800 Family of Fiber Optic Test Links

The Delaire 8800 Family of Fiber Optic Test Links provide approximations of worst case fiber links to be used to test the ability of high-speed optical transceivers to operate at the limits of cables defined by various Ethernet standards. The 8800 supports both single-mode and multi-mode fiber applications and can be configured for custom applications where the customer defines the operational parameters of the system.

To ensure the most realistic test environment, the 8800 family uses real fiber optic cable that has been selected and measured to provide a link bandwidth based on the specifications of the cable and/or the customer requirements.

Typical applications include optical transceiver testing and qualification for 40G AND 100G systems such as 40GBASE-SR4 (OM3 AND OM4), 100GBASE-SR4 (OM3 AND OM4), 100GBASE-SR10 (OM3 AND OM4), 40GBASE-LR4, 40GBASE-FR, and 100GBASE-LR4.

802.3ae Qualification Test Link

The Delaire USA qualification test links are designed to act as worst-case links for bandwidth/dispersion and attenuation. These links are intended to be used in the qualification of transceivers designed to meet the IEEE 802.3ae specifications for 10GB multimode links at 850nm. The links provided are not simply designed for the length requirements but are tailored to simulate the actual bandwidth defined by the length bandwidth (OFL or EMB) product called out in the standard.

LRM / 802.3aq Qualification Test Link

The Delaire USA qualification test links are designed to act as test links for bandwidth and a particular fiber type. These links are intended to be used in the qualification of transceivers designed to meet the LRM specifications† for 10GB multimode links at 850nm and 1300nm. The links provided are not simply designed for the length requirements but are tailored to simulate the actual bandwidth defined by the length bandwidth (OFL) product called out in the standard. The actual fibers used are industry standards and thus represent a sampling of all of the modal structure possibilities.
